Clothes are a big part of the first communion traditions. The little girls were wearing white dresses, hats, gloves, tights, shoes, and in some cases, veils. AJ wore the exact same jacket that Joe and his brothers wore for their first communions thirty years ago. AJ also wore a tie for the first time. Julia was quite jealous of the tie and snuck into Joe's closet to put one on herself. Unfortunately, Julia's tie did not stay on until pictures. AJ did get his wish for a cannoli cake imported from Chicago and tried to eat a piece as big as his head.

First Reunion
AJ had his first communion this weekend, or as Julia referred to it, AJ's first reunion. Grandma Francie, Papa and Uncle Will came in from Chicago, as well as Grandma Julia, Pops & Susan, Auntie Kim, Auntie Ali and special guest Georgie, in an adorable hat. AJ did his part well. When the ceremony was over and we went to a local restaurant to celebrate, he proudly and immediately claimed the seat at the head of the table.
