Too Sharp to Poke in Your Ear
Tonight when AJ was supposed to be in bed, he came down to where I was working in the office. He was holding a tinker toy stick in one hand and solemnly told me "Mama, this thing is too sharp to poke in my ear." I agreed and told him never to poke anything in his ear. Then he said, "Mama, if I put a toy in my nose, I will have to go to the hospital and Uncle Dave will have to take it out. That will hurt." At least he knows the consequences. Here's to hoping I never end up in the emergency room with a lego stuck in AJ's nose.

Eyes So Blue
This post is for Julia's great-grandma, Cynthia, who lives in Florida. We are looking forward to introducing Julia to her and to my grandfather this summer.
To Cynthia Sue
With eyes of beautiful blue
You gave a gift to me
For all to see
My eyes of beautiful blue
I am sure that Great-Grandpa Walt can come up with a beautiful tune to sing those words. We love you, Great-Grandma and Great-Grandpa!

Mother's Day
Today was a lovely low-key Mother's Day. We were wrapping up a great weekend of celebrating Uncle Dave's med school graduation (way to go, Dave!) and a week in Iowa with my family, so having a laid back day of playing in the yard with a picnic lunch was the way to go. Julia got to hang out on a blanket in the backyard for the first time while I planted a few herbs. The boys were thrilled that Joe finished the monster construction project known as Project Swingset (more on that in a later post...it's deserving of its own entry.) Those dots on their noses in the pictures are from an earlier finger painting session when Davey accidentally got paint on his nose and AJ copied it on purpose. Both refused to wash it off all day and were quite upset when they had to scrub it off in the tub.
Here's the bi-annual Mother's Day photo by the tree out front. It was supposed to be annual, but Joe took last year off, so we are bi-annual for now until he can establish a streak. Here is a link to the last one to gauge changes. One more baby...landscaping looks better...still need to work on the photography. Joe seemed to take quite a few and said "there should be some good ones in there to choose from." Turns out he took three and this was the best of the bunch!
