Spring has finally peeked its face out here, and we are so relieved to see it. We have had such a long winter in these parts. It really has been depressing. As Davey said earlier this month "Snow in April?!? That's bediculous!" (meaning ridiculous). Our little show of spring with 70 degree days and sun is short-lived, as I hear tomorrow is back to the 30 degree mark, but we enjoyed it immensely. The kids have become infatuated with dandelions and love to pick them and present them to me as a great gift. On the way home from daycare the other day they spotted a field of dandelions and were thrilled when I stopped the minivan to let them run out and pick a big handful. I thought I would never get them back in the car. Julia calls her dandelions "candylions," which causes me to smile at its sweetness. I love to hear her say "Mama, I want to pick candylions!" and "Thank you, Davey, for the beautiful candylions!"
The boys also had their first fishing expedition of the season with Pops and Susan and were delighted to discover that the fish are biting again. They caught three fish between the two of them, and it was a mix of bluegills and crappies. The other activity the boys have been enjoying lately is digging for worms in the backyard, so I thought someone might be squeamish about putting their pals the worms on hooks, but I heard no reports of any squawking on that front. I think there will be a lot of time spent on the dock this spring and summer.
